2008 AMR Theme
The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on 4 October 2007 adopted the themes for its Annual Ministerial Review (AMR) for 2008 and 2009. The theme for 2008 is "Implementing the internationally agreed goals and commitments in regard to sustainable development"

The concept of “sustainable development” and its visualization is inspired by various perspectives. The starting point for the Banner concept has been the Report of the Brundtland Commission which coined in 1987 what was to become the most often-quoted definition of sustainable development as development that “meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.
